History
Singing gave the hotel its name
Starting out as a singing camp for the Engadin choir, the Laudinella has maintained a deep connection to regional cultural activities and at the same time developed into a renowned hotel with international gastronomy.
The company history in pictures
1956
Laudinella, Rhaeto-Romanic: the lark
In 1956, church musician Hannes Reimann founded the Laudinella cooperative in order to acquire the Hotel Olympia Metropol for the then popular singing camps.
1957
A place for artistic encounters
The Hotel Olympia Metropol is renovated and opened as the Laudinella in 1957. Hannes Reimann quickly completes his diploma in hospitality to be allowed to run the business. A place that combines hotel business and culture is created.
1968
The musical spark jumps over
The adjacent Hotel Engadinerhof is merged with the Laudinella. The dining room is transformed into a concert hall, and a music room and library are added.
1977
Hospitality and culinary delights combined
The first self-service restaurant in St. Moritz opens at the Hotel Laudinella. Cultural and sports groups will find an affordable way to be inspired in the midst of picturesque nature.
2007
Immortalized in literature: code word Laudinella
In his novel, Richard Reich tells stories from the singing camp era: lovers and disturbed people, peculiar guests, obscure hotel ghosts and the four-legged hotel king who prefers to hold court while lying down.
2015
Royal addition: Hotel Reine Victoria
The Laudinella Cooperative is expanding its portfolio to include the Art Nouveau Hotel Reine Victoria: initially taken over as a leasehold property in 2015, extensively modernized and finally taken over in 2022 thanks to an investor.
2018
New course, new opportunities: Laudinella AG
The Laudinella Cooperative is converted into a public limited company. This decision creates the basis for the necessary investments. The infrastructure of the hotel and cultural operations is expanded to make it fit for the future.
2025
The prospect of a new living experience
After extensive remodeling, the Grand Opening is celebrated; with new international restaurants, suites, penthouses and apartments, complemented by an impressive rooftop spa with infinity pool.Sustainability

Heat from cold water
Every lake contains valuable thermal energy—including Lake St. Moritz right here at home. With a modern heat pump, some of this stored energy can be extracted and used as sustainable heating energy. In this way, nature provides us with a large portion of the heating energy we need practically for free: innovative, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient all at once. We use this method of heat generation in our homes and have thus managed to heat all of our buildings in a carbon-neutral way.JOIN THE TEAM

Your way to us
Your vacation at the Hotel Laudinella in St. Moritz starts with your arrival: The Rhaetian Railway (RhB) takes you along the UNESCO World Heritage Albula route, by car you can experience the Julier, Maloja, Albula and Ofen passes, depending on the route you take, or you can treat yourself to the comfortable car transport through the Vereina Tunnel. Spectacular views are guaranteed! Welcome to one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Switzerland.
Arrival by train
Travel safely and easily to the Engadin with SBB. As soon as you board the RhB Glacier Express in Chur, things get exciting: you travel on the UNESCO World Heritage route Albula on the ‘slowest express train in the world’ and enjoy the fabulous view of the incredible natural spectacle of the Swiss Alps. For the best view, secure a seat in the panoramic carriage at the end of the train.

Arrival by car
All roads lead to the Engadin. Whether from Austria, Italy, Ticino or northern Switzerland. You can easily reach our wonderful high valley through valleys, tunnels and over Alpine passes.
In winter, the Julier, Maloja, Ofen and Bernina passes are open for crossing the Alps. In bad weather or when the passes are closed, the Engadin can be reached from the north by RhB car transport through the Vereina tunnel (between Klosters/Selfranga—Sagliains in the Lower Engadin) and from the south through the Munt-la-Schera tunnel.
Despite the great anticipation, please don’t forget to pack your snow chains from October onwards!
Arrival by plane
Engadin Airport—Europe’s highest airport in Samedan at 1,707 m above sea level is just 7 kilometers from St. Moritz and can be approached from national and international destinations. A special bonus: the bird’s eye view of the Engadin and the Swiss Alps is an unforgettable experience. The international airports of Zurich, Milan, Innsbruck or Munich can be reached by air cab in under an hour.
Public transportation in the Engadin
The PostBus, the yellow bus with the traditional three-tone horn, is unmistakable and is part of Switzerland’s cultural identity. The leading Swiss bus company takes you safely and reliably to your destination. There is a direct connection to St. Moritz from Chur (via the Julier Pass) and from Lugano (through Italy).
In addition, Engadinbus and the RhB will take you to your destination with ease. And best of all: from May to October, the public transport ticket is included for the duration of your stay in our hotels, valid for every booking of two nights or more.
