Hit the slopes!

88 slopes. 350 kilometers. At over 1,800 meters. Winter starts early in the Engadin – and stays long. Between gentle slopes, steep World Cup runs and untouched tours, there’s something for every age and every level.

Getting started is made easy with us. Right next to our Hotel Laudinella: the Signal cable car takes you to the local mountain Corviglia/Piz Nair in just a few minutes. If you want to go further, you can reach Corvatsch and Diavolezza/Lagalb quickly by Engadinbus.

Fans of freeskiing and snowboarding get going in the Crowland snow park on Corviglia or the Corvatsch Park. And after the last run? Stop off and relax by the fireplace. Our tip: get up early and make the first tracks in the freshly groomed piste carpet at sunrise!

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing – on the trail of winter

230 kilometers of trails wind their way through the Engadin – over frozen lakes, snow-covered meadows, quiet forests and peaceful side valleys. Right on the hotel’s doorstep, you glide right into the heart of a picture-perfect landscape. The network stretches from Maloja all the way up to the Bernina Pass, and those who want to go even further can make their tracks on the glacier trail right into spring. When the days get shorter, the night trail in St. Moritz Bad invites you to do late laps in the spotlight.

This combination of variety, quality and guaranteed snow attracts thousands of cross-country skiers every year – not least for the legendary Engadin Ski Marathon. Several cross-country skiing schools are available for beginners and advanced skiers, and those who don’t have their own equipment can easily hire it.

Ice skating

Skating smoothly: Ice skating in the Engadin

After cold, frosty nights, the Upper Engadin lakes are as smooth as glass. Then it’s time for a rare natural spectacle: black ice.

The conditions are not perfect every year, but ice skating fans don’t have to wait. You can pirouette in the open air on the Ludains artificial ice rink and practise skating or curling on the natural ice rink in winter.

Snowshoe hikes

On quiet soles through the winter wonderland

Snowshoeing in the Engadin

150 kilometers of winter hiking trails lead through quiet valleys, over frozen lakes and snow-covered slopes – from the flat St. Moritz-Maloja route to the dreamy Val Fex near Sils. Where sailing trips take place in summer, you can take a stroll in winter. On the frozen Engadin lakes, you can experience the vastness of the valley in a completely different and impressive way.

A highlight: the sunset over the frozen Lake Sils. Head higher up on the Philosophers’ Trail at Muottas Muragl – with far-reaching views and wise thoughts in your luggage. If you prefer to head off the beaten track, strap on your snowshoes: marked routes and guided tours are offered by the Pontresina mountaineering school or our guide Johnny, for example. A full moon tour with a fondue at the Alpine hut is particularly atmospheric – crunching snow and clear nights.
